Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts did not suit up in Week 17's win over the Dallas Cowboys as he was sidelined with a concussion he suffered during Week 16.
In order for him to return to action, Hurts must pass through concussion protocol which typically takes a week.
At this time, however, it's unclear if Hurts has been given the green light.
"No new information there," Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters on Monday. "Haven’t met with our medical team yet. Still going through our game evaluations today, and then we’ll move on here to the Giants. But no new news for you guys on the injury front."
The Birds have one more regular season game left to play against the New York Giants in Week 18 at home.
Given that the Eagles are already locked into the No. 2 seed for the NFL playoffs, Hurts' availability doesn't necessarily matter right now. But that's only because the Eagles could end up sitting their starters for some extra rest anyhow.
Sirianni wouldn't budge on that decision just yet but hinted that he would have an update when players return to practice on Wednesday.
"Still not there," Sirianni said. "Obviously I gave the players off today. They’ll be back in a couple days. By the next time I talk to you, they’ll be back in. So I’ll always inform them before I inform anyone else."I know you guys are going to want that answer as soon as you guys can get it. I’ll try to help you guys do your job as much as I possibly can, but I’ll always inform our players of things first. But still sorting through things right now at this particular moment."
Backup quarterback Kenny Pickett is also dealing with a rib injury so that would leave the Eagles turning to Tanner McKee for their final game if QB1 and QB2 are still banged up.
The Eagles also signed Ian Book to their practice squad last week for emergency depth.
