1984 Olympics: Muhammad Ali carried torch through Louisville

   

OK. Once in *** lifetime event, 11 runners including Muhammad Ali carried the Olympic torch through Louisville Ali, the second runner in Kentucky drew *** crowd of thousands people yelled, hey champ as he passed downtown streets and Muhammad Ali yelled at photographers in front of him. Ali won the Olympics in 1960 in Rome. He competed as cash as Clay and never dreamed he'd still be taking part in the games. 20 years later, for other runners like Melinda Warren carrying the torch is something she'll never forget. I'm not sure how the books today. I'm out of breath. Each runner passes the flame on to the next. So the torch is continually burning. Oh, this is the most fabulous thing that ever happened on Third Street. The relay is an Olympic tradition. The flames started its journey on May 8 and will cover 33 states on its way from New York to L ***. The torch is passed on by 10,000 different runners across the country to start the 1984 Summer Olympic Games.

On May 27, 1984, Muhammad Ali carried the Olympic Torch through Louisville, Kentucky, captivating thousands of onlookers. Ali, the second runner in Kentucky, received cheers of "Hey, champ!" as he passed through downtown streets.This wasn’t the first, or last, time Ali was involved with Olympic tradition.He won the gold medal in the 1960 Olympics in Rome.
