A Star Is Rising in Kansas City — And It Could Change Everything

The Kansas City Chiefs' offense will be a big watch in 2025 with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid having their fair share of skeptics entering the new year.

With the offense being a little underwhelming in the past couple of seasons, which does sound odd given the Chiefs won a Super Bowl and went to another, but there weren't any downfield threats aside from Xavier Worthy.

Chiefs' Andy Reid Offers Glowing Jalen Royals Scouting Report

But now rookie Jalen Royals has entered the chat and entered it in blistering fashion.

Already taking first team reps, Royals is making plays day after day with the offense, with Mahomes looking his way often, which included a tough contested catch in their last practice.

“He's doing a nice job,” Reid said. “He is catching the football well, strong, looks like the quarterbacks trust him. That's a big part of it. As you watch, you see who the quarterbacks are going to, and there's a certain trust that they're developing here in that kid. So, that kind of speaks for itself."

With a unit that houses Rashee Rice, Worthy, Juju Smith-Schuster, and Hollywood Brown, Royals might find reps hard to come by, but his efforts at training camp might suggest otherwise.

Of course, we tap the brakes a bit here because we have seen countless players impress in preseason, but when the regular season begins, they can't translate it.

Will Royals be the same? We sure hope not, and going off his practices, Reid and Mahomes might just have a rather underrated weapon to deploy in 2025.
