Aaron Rodgers has just proved Green Bay Packers right, blasts Stephen A. Smith, ‘I’m embarrassed’

Aaron Rodgers has spent the last decade and a half as one of the go-to top quarterback names in the game. However, Rodgers has not been without criticism as well. Over the years, the Tom Brady vs Aaron Rodgers conversation has been a constant argument, leading to split sides.

However, seemingly no matter what happened, both sides agreed that the Green Bay Packers quarterback was one of the best in the league on Sundays. Whether it was a Green Bay Packers or New England Patriots fan making the argument, both sides could at least agree that both quarterbacks were great.

In 2024, that understanding now has flipped. Over the course of the year, fans and analysts have slowly lost their belief in the Jets quarterback as the team’s season slipped from bad to worse.

Aaron Rodgers loses one of his biggest fans

Speaking on a December 2 edition of “First Take,” NFL analyst Stephen A. Smith, one of the biggest defenders of the quarterback over the years, completely turned against him following the team’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

“I’m so disappointed in what we’ve seen from him. I’m embarrassed. He has been bad. He has not been good. He has had a 300 yard game and over three years.

“And to go out there like that, you’re in the media capital world. Every time he opens his mouth this year, he’s given justification for the level of skepticism Green Bay about him in terms of his lack of leadership,” he said.

Rodgers has historically been quick to point out mistakes made by other pieces around him. Whether it was on the practice field in Hard Knocks or in statements to the media, the quarterback has a reputation for pointing out other areas for improvement.

Aaron Rodgers assigns blame for loss to Seahawks

The Jets quarterback threw for two touchdowns and one interception in the collapse against the Seattle Seahawks. In a shocking turn of event, the team allowed a 14-point first-quarter lead to go up in smoke, losing 26-21 in a second-half shutout. Rodgers faced the music, appearing to point the blame elsewhere.

“There’s 11 guys on the field, sometimes it’s my fault… and then sometimes the details aren’t there in some other spots too,” Rodgers said, per Sports Illustrated and SNY.

Rodgers now is 3-8, sitting one loss away from clinching a losing season with a skid to 3-14 far from impossible. Will Rodgers put on another patented December surge or could their season get even darker?
