Vanderpump Rules alum Ally Lewber has been in the news quite a bit over the last several months. Sadly, part of the reason behind the headlines is the much-talked-about domestic violence incident that saw James Kennedy behind bars. However, she’s also gaining traction thanks to her new podcast. Now, she’s opening up about where she stands with James following their breakup.

As fans know, Ally, 29, and James, 33, broke up in January 2025. This came after he was arrested in December for an instance of domestic violence. There were no charges filed against James for the incident.

Ally has much going on in her post-James life, and she recently sat down for an interview with E! News. First, the interviewer asked how she’s been since the drama from December and its fallout. She replied, “It’s good to be on the other side of it.”

The StarStruck host continued, “I am happy, I love my new apartment, my cats are happy, I’m seeing my friends a lot, which is great. I just feel really blessed. Being able to do astrology, I’m just so grateful for that because I’m just able to pour so much of my love and energy into that right [now].”

She also addressed her current standing with James following their split. According to Ally, “We don’t have any communication right now, but I believe we’re amicable. There’s not been any ill will or anything. At least from my perspective, I can’t speak for him, obviously. I will always wish him the best.”

Additionally, she addressed his sobriety journey, saying, “I’m really proud of him, from what I’ve heard last is that he’s still in AA and working on himself, and he’s deejaying again, which makes me happy. He is a great person who is a bit wounded, so I’m just happy that he’s taking care of himself. I will always wish him the best, and I believe he feels the same for me.”

The interview continued, and Ally went on to say that their breakup didn’t occur solely because of the domestic violence incident from December. She explained, “Honestly, it took a lot of space and time after everything went down. It allowed me to remove myself and to sit with the reality of the relationship and view it from a more realistic point of view and not like a lover point of view that just wants to take care of someone.”

She went on, “Ultimately, I was able to be like, ‘Okay, this is not healthy for either of us, and I don’t want these patterns to continue. So, I got to choose myself right now,’ which is not easy. But ultimately, where I am now, I’m glad that I did that.”

Ally also addressed her plans for dating in the near future. She said, “I’m so scared. I don’t think I’m ready, I feel like I’m about to become a true Capricorn, where I just pour all of my energy into work. So, we’ll see.” She then said, “I’m not like opposed to it, like the wheels are starting to turn a little bit. But I still have some healing to do.”

Fans can listen to StarStruck with Ally Lewber on all podcast platforms. She’s also hosting live events for the podcast.
