Despite enjoying steady business since its opening, it looks like Something About Her is continuing to face zoning and budget struggles. Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney’s sandwich shop just can’t seem to get its outdoor space up and running.
Earlier this year, Ariana and Katie were forced to tear down the existing patio on the space by the city of West Hollywood. They were also forced to get completely new signage for the shop. This caused several delays in their intended opening.
Zoning struggles continue to plague Something About Her’s outside dining space
Despite having to tear down the original patio on the space, there were immediate plans to rebuild it to create an outdoor dining area. This was supposed to be coupled with seating options in the side alleyway beside the shop too.

However, it’s been nearly a year, and a source revealed to The U.S. Sun that due to finances and zoning permits, the sandwich shop’s outdoor space has continued to be put on hold.
“No plans for the patio as of now,” the insider shared. “There haven’t been any updates. Everyone was excited about getting outdoor space and just more space in general but they put that on hold because it would have been really expensive. More expensive than they thought.”
This plus issues with the city make it tricky and pricey to get expansion plans approved so permits are another problem. With the neighboring businesses so close, figuring out where to put the patio is challenging. The shop is on a busy street in West Hollywood in between two other businesses leaving little room for expansion.
But they are still trying because it would be a great addition. Plus, it would be good for business. Since the current space is so small, there is often a line outside waiting to try the Nancy Meyers-inspired store’s luxury sandwiches. And maybe to catch a glimpse of Ariana and Katie.
And while Ariana isn’t always around because of work, Katie is usually there to hold down the fort. The reality star is often seen at Something About Her with her mom Teri.
