Vanderpump Rules stars Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney opened their Something About Her sandwich shop earlier this year. This came after several delays and even being applauded by Lisa Vanderpump for their dedication to the brand. Despite being opened, the pair has been plagued with claims from former chef Penny Davidi, who they had hired and then stopped working with before the storefront opened. Now, the EX chef is suing over breach of contract, but Katie and Ariana aren’t taking it without putting up a fight.
Since Something About Her opened, there has been considerable controversy. Naturally, there were complaints of long lines due to the celebrity status both reality TV stars bring. However, there have also been complaints about the pricing and the food options. Their EX chef launched her lawsuit in July.
In Touch Weekly recently obtained court documents from the lawsuit against Katie and Ariana. In the documents, the business partners deny any wrongdoing. According to their attorney, “Plaintiffs fail to allege facts sufficient to support any claim for relief, including by failing to allege a justiciable controversy.”
Feeling that the Ex chef has no case, Ariana and Katie either want the case dismissed or a trial by jury. As for Penny’s allegations, she says the pair promised her a ten percent cut of the business’ profits and the title of COO/Director of Culinary. She was set to be paid $7,500 per month at first, and her rate was supposed to increase to $10,000 per month. However, Ariana and Katie are said to have refused to honor the deal.
According to Penny’s lawsuit, the deal was to “jointly engage in the business of developing, creating, owning, operating, promoting … and otherwise profiting and benefiting from … a restaurant, fashion, merchandise, and lifestyle, brand, business, and property … to be known as Something About Her.”
Of course, this isn’t Ariana’s only lawsuit, as she and Tom Sandoval are being sued by Rachel Leviss for revenge porn.
