Broncos Could Take Advantage of Star Linebacker Trade Request

NFL insider Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that Titans LB Harold Landry III has been granted permission to seek a trade. Landry, who is 28, just had one of his best seasons recording 71 tackles, nine sacks, four pass deflections, and 12 stuffs.

Landry is an excellent pass rusher who also does a really good job of stopping the run. The Denver Broncos, who led the league in sacks last year, have the chance to make their already great pass rush even better and get someone to help stop the run.

It has been talked about recently how the Broncos struggled to stop the run again against certain teams last year down the stretch and that hurt them. Picking up Landry in the prime of his career could be a perfect way to get some run help without having to substitute a pass rush.

It was mentioned in a recent interview with GM George Paton that there was going to be open competition for some of the starting linebacker jobs, and Harold could come in and blow the competition away.

If Landry comes in and learns from head coach Sean Payton and defensive coordinator Vance Joseph while also being a leader for their young defense he could be the perfect fit. Landry will cause a slight hit to the salary cap as he has a bigger contract, but the Titans trying to get out from under that cap hit will make him easier to trade for.

Who knows, maybe the former pro bowler could be a missing piece to this exciting Broncos defense. Paton and Coach Payton should have some discussions on the potential of bringing in another talented linebacker.
