Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving took the league by storm last season, rushing for 1,122 yards and eight touchdowns to be Liam Coen's most dynamic weapon.
With Irving establishing himself as one of the better running backs in football after just one year, now as he enters Year 2, the expectations placed upon him are huge, and with the rest of the offensive weapons, Tampa Bay is expected to be a dangerous proposition in 2025.
But as far as Irving, and the expectations placed on him and what he could potentially become after such a good rookie season, he's starting Year 2 from scratch.
“I don't pay attention to all that,” Irving said. “I'm not a guy that's stuck in the past, like I always get up here and say none of that stuff matters what I did last year. It's about what I could do right now. So I always had that mentality, pretty much not being stuck in the things that you did last year. It's all about what can you do for me now.”
So, it is a clean slate for Irving, and his mindset is that he has to prove himself again.
Part of a running back room that has Rachaad White and Sean Tucker, the Buccaneers will be looking to again be one of the best rushing attacks in football, with Irving, of course, leading the charge.
With so much more expected from Bucky in his second season, as we know, expectations can derail the trajectory of a player quicker than just about anything, so it is clear that Irving isn't concerning himself with the outside noise.
He's starting from square one and seems determined to prove himself to the league, and that makes him a dangerous proposition.
