Reynoso is the trainer of multi-weight world champion Canelo Alvarez and has been for many successful years.
He has steered Canelo through all of his biggest fights, including wins over Brits such as John Ryder, Amir Khan, Callum Smith, fellow Mexican Jaime Munguia and most recently the successful defence of his unified super middleweight titles against Edgar Berlanga.
‘Canelo’s motto is ‘no boxing, no life’ and with Reynoso they run a serious operation, so it might not be a shock to hear the trainer’s brutal verdict on the upcoming fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.
He gave it to Pro Boxing Fans and said it will be a stain on Tyson’s boxing legacy.
“This could be the end of the interview because for me it is very absurd to have this type of fight and it is very disrespectful of [Tyson] to actually put his legacy behind him with such a fight.”
Tyson and Paul is a controversial bout that will be contested over eight two-minute rounds in November live on Netflix from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
It will be Tyson’s first professional fight since retiring after back-to-back losses back in 2005. He is almost 60 years old while Paul is not yet 30 and right now has won 10 of his 11 fights.
His one loss came against Tommy Fury and seven of his wins have come via stoppage against the likes of Mike Perry, Ryan Borland and Andre August, while he also beat Nate Diaz in 2023 on points.
