Chiefs' Andy Reid Scouts Xavier Worthy for Super Bowl

The Kansas City Chiefs are aiming for a third straight Super Bowl win when they face the Philadelphia Eagles, and rookie Xavier Worthy will have a big role to play.

Chiefs' Andy Reid Scouts Xavier Worthy for Super Bowl

The 4.21-speed merchant has been in solid form over the past six weeks, registering at least 40 receiving yards and four receptions in every game, and is coming off an 85-yard game against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game.

Now, unlike most of his Chiefs teammates, Worthy is into his first Super Bowl, and his head coach, Andy Reid, has detailed what has allowed Xavier to flourish in Year 1.

“He's a poised kid, and he does it with a smile on his face every day,” Reid said. “He comes out and works hard, wants to get better, all the things that that you want from a player, he has. I would tell you he's probably mature, at least in the football world, mature for his age and experience. He jumps in, he's willing to listen which I think is important when the teammates are talking these guys that have a little experience are talking to him, he's taking it all in, so that's not always the case with players.”

Worthy has developed quite the connection with Patrick Mahomes in the second half of the year, with Xavier taking over as the Chiefs' No. 1 weapon at times, which, for a rookie, is eerily similar to Rashee Rice, who exploded in his rookie season and was on his way to another big year before his injury early in the year.

But for all the good Xavier has done, now comes his biggest moment - the Super Bowl.

He will be tasked with helping put up points against one of the best defenses in football, and in doing so might have a big hand to play in the Chiefs securing history.
