After that, he began building his personal brand. And that personal brand has always been intertwined with his college hometown and program, the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

And now, that personal brand and Mahomes' collegiate home are taking it a step further.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders football program has always liked to tinker with its uniform combinations. Various alterations of the black, red and white with the occasional gray frequently make appearances on the field at Red Raiders games.

This year is no different, but yet it is.

On Thursday, Adidas and Mahomes unveiled a new Red Raiders uniform that features the Chiefs quarterback's signature "Gladiator" logo. It's one of the first times that a professional athlete's personal brand will be included in an on-field uniform.

The uniform will feature a dark grey tackle swill with printed metallic films and power red accents. It's inspired by the 45-degree bevel found across the Texas Tech campus and the angles of Mahomes' iconography. The helmet, logos and numbers are in a metallic film with galvanized finishes.

The uniform will be on display for the first time against the Colorado Buffaloes on Nov. 9.

Mahomes and the Chiefs are sitting a 5-0 on the season and are shooting for an unprecedented third straight Super Bowl this year.
