Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner Is Dating Again After Theresa Nist Breakup

Chrishell Stause isn't sold on the new Golden Bachelor star's dating perspective.

The Selling Sunset star shared her thoughts on the ABC dating show’s new leading man Mel Owens amid the strict age parameters he revealed he gave producers ahead of the upcoming season.

"We love the Golden Bachelor because of how wholesome it is," Chrishell said on her Instagram Stories June 26. "This type of energy will ruin it."

The 43-year-old added Bishop Bullwinkle’s song “Hell to Da Naw Naw Naw" to her post to really hammer her message home.

E! News has reached out to ABC for comment but hasn't heard back.

Chrishell's statement came after Mel, 66, explained that he told producers that when producers asked him what ages he wanted his suitors to be on The Golden Bachelor, he said, "45 to 60, just being honest."

"'If they’re 60 or over, I’m cutting them,'" the NFL alum recounted telling one producer on the June 4 episode of MGoBlue Podcasts With Jon Jansen. “'This is not The Silver Bachelor, this is The Golden Bachelor.'"

The former financial advisor added that when a producer asked him to avoid using "the word 'cut'" when addressing the women during filming, he responded by saying, "'That’s an NFL term.'"

Age wasn't the only preference that Mel gave to the Golden Bachelor producers, either. He also told them that his love interests have "got to be fit."

"Because I stay in shape and workout and stuff," he said, adding that he told producers to "try to stay away from the artificial hips and the wigs."

While he clearly knows what he's looking for, Mel also shared that the idea that not knowing how this journey will end for him was part of the appeal of signing up to be the second Golden Bachelor. (Season one star Gerry Turner and winner Theresa Nist tied the knot in a televised wedding before going to on to break up a few months later.)

“I like to try new things," Mel explained. "I like to be in the unknown...I’ve always been a guy who’s been sort of out there, not on the edge, but trying new things."

The lawyer shares two sons with his ex-wife and, while he's enjoyed focusing on being a father, Mel is now looking for his "perfect teammate."

"Now, after several years as a devoted dad, Owens is ready to rediscover a love rooted in the simple joys of companionship," the ABC press release announcing him as the next Golden Bachelor said in April, "sharing life’s everyday
