Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb Inches Closer to Comeback

The Cleveland Browns ‘ moribund offense might be able to get a boost with the possible return of running back Nick Chubb.

Monday, the Browns activated Chubb off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, opening the veteran running back’s 21-day practice window. Chubb now will have three weeks to either prove he’s healthy enough to return to the field, and be elevated to the active roster, or be forced to revert to season-ending injured reserve.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb Inches Closer to Comeback

Chubb has been working his way back from a devastating knee injury suffered in Week 2 of last season against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Before getting hurt, Chubb had been off to a fast start to the 2023 campaign, rushing for 170 yards while averaging a paltry 6.1 yards per carry.

How Nick Chubb May Boost the Cleveland Browns’ Offense

Amid quarterback Deshaun Watson‘s up-and-down start to the 2024 season, the Browns’ offense has been mired in inconsistency through the season’s first four weeks.

Cleveland currently ranks 26th in the league in rushing offense, with Jerome Ford pacing the Browns with just 203 rushing yards.

Chubb would be a welcomed addition to a backfield that has been trying to find its footing through the first month of this season, if he can prove that he’s healthy enough and showing no ill-effects of his significant multi-ligament knee injury.
