DWTS’ Val Chmerkovskiy Suffered Health Scare That Caused ‘Excruciating Pain’

“Dancing With the Stars” pro Val Chmerkovskiy shared a little too much information about a recent health scare that caused “excruciating pain.” All ended well for the dancer — after he passed a kidney stone.

Val Chmerkovskiy Details Passing Kidney Stone

Chmerkovskiy had a health scare during a trip to Spain that prompted him to seek medical attention.

He detailed the experience in an Instagram Story on April 27. “Passing a kidney stone on my flight home wasn’t part of my plans but here we are,” the dancer wrote. “Baby boy was a cute little bastard, about the size of a pea, and has his papas eyes.”

“Quick story: I landed in Spain, had a little side/back pain. Taught, worked out, etc etc … thought it was just my usual back ache. Went to bed, can’t sleep, pain throughout the night,” he shared. “Woke up now it’s throbbing, and poking. Start my day, try to walk it off, it’s not going away. I can’t tell if I gotta 💩, or it’s something else, but my side and back are now KILLING ME.”

Things got so bad, he decided to go to the hospital.

“It was excruciating pain though. I didn’t know what to do,” Chmerkovskiy said of going to the doctor. “Took some tests. Found blood in my pea. Told me I have a urinary infection, most likely being caused by a kidney stone. Antibiotics, some painkiller. Oooof I can breathe again.”

The dancer said he felt much better the next day. “Next day, killed it. Back to normal, being myself. Finished off an amazing event,” he wrote.

The painful feeling returned, however — mid-flight. “Now flying home and boom, feel a little something somewhere sacred,” Chmerkovskiy explained. “Go to the bathroom and see this little guy. IM NEVER EATING SWEETS, OR ULTRA FRIED/GREASY FOODS AGAIN.”

Chmerkovskiy must have felt much better after the scare, as he and wife Jenna Johnson had a date night at the Los Angeles premiere of “Thunderbolts” on April 28.

Johnson took to Instagram on April 29 to share photos from the red carpet event. “Date Night ⚡️🎬🍿🎥 The ‘Thunderbolts’ movie was incredible!!! Was not expecting to laugh so much but thoroughly enjoyed all of the performances by the cast,” she noted in the caption. “So so good!! @florencepugh … forever in awe over you!!”

Chmerkovskiy also shared video from the red carpet, where the couple shared multiple kisses. Fans were impressed that the pro dancer rebounded after having “excruciating pain.”

“Wait. You did all this after passing a kidney stone?” one fan asked. Another person noted, “From passing kidney stones to red carpets. Living the Hollywood Dream!!!”
