Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has taken a lot of heat for his sideline incident where he was caught on video yelling back at fans during the team's narrow win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
So much so, that he even issued a public apology to fans during this week's press conference.
Most of the time in these situations, opinions don't matter. Other times they do, and longtime Eagles center Jason Kelce is one of those opinions that matters after playing three seasons for Sirianni.
Kelce weighed in on the situation during ESPN's Monday Night Countdown and chalked it up as Sirianni showing just how passionate he is about the sport and his team.
"He's passionate," Kelce said. "He loves his guys. He loves his team, and you're going to know that. I think you saw that, and obviously he knows that wasn't the right way to handle the situation. Everybody knows it, and that was inappropriate, but this is a guy that knows that his energy is going to fuel the football team. The team said that in their postgame interviews...
"If that is going to get the best out of him, that emotional energy, that he can then infuse into other people, I'm all for it."
In Sirianni's defense, Philly fans were booing their own team and started "Fire Nick Sirianni" during the game, which he admitted he could hear during the postgame presser.
Sirianni is known across the league for getting fired up and yelling things at fans in a playful manner. It doesn't always get this much much press as long as the Eagles are winning but with the way they have recently been playing, it's not a very good look.
So at the moment, the best and only way for Sirianni to successfully respond to all of the hate and criticism is to just keep winning.
