Philadelphia Eagles rookie offensive lineman Hollin Pierce is getting special treatment from legend Jason Kelce.
94wIP's Eliot Shorr-Parks shared a video of Pierce working on his hand and footwork with Kelce after the Eagles' training camp practice on Tuesday.
Pierce, who is massive at 6-foot-8 and 344 pounds, went undrafted out of Rutgers this past spring, and it's clear the Eagles could not overlook his size and signed him to a UDFA deal.
He played tackle in college, but the Eagles have him taking reps at guard too. Offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland did the same thing with Mekhi Becton when he came to Philly last offseason and switched him from left tackle to right guard -- which worked out very well for the Birds.
Hollins Pierce Was a Walk-On Star At Rutgers University
Pierce was originally a walk-on at Rutgers, where he ended up making a splash as a redshirt freshman in 2021. He played in all 13 games, starting 12 at right tackle, and earning the Mark Mills Second Effort Award as the program’s most improved offensive player during spring practice.
As a redshirt sophomore in 2022, Pierce started all 12 games at right tackle and even got into the conversation for the Burlsworth Trophy, which goes to the top player who started as a walk-on.
In 2023, Pierce was moved to left tackle to protect Rutgers quarterback Gavin Wimsatt’s blindside. He started every game that year, helping star running back Kyle Monangai with the support he needed to lead the Big Ten in rushing yards. That same season, the Scarlett Knights' offensive line also allowed the fewest sacks per game in the conference. Pierce earned an impressive 72.4 grade from Pro Football Focus, ranking him the sixth-best offensive tackle in the Big Ten.
Fans will get their first glimpse at Pierce at the next level when the Eagles play their first preseason game on Thursday night against the Cincinnati Bengals.
