Will you accept this typewriter? After appearing on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, plenty of contestants go on to host podcasts or star on additional seasons of the franchise, but arguably the No. 1 pastime for Bachelor Nation members is writing.
Tons of former Bachelor and Bachelorette leads have written books over the years, including Hannah Brown, Matt James and Rachel Lindsay. Brown, who appeared in season 23 of The Bachelor before leading season 15 of The Bachelorette, said that her memoir, God Bless This Mess, was an attempt to tell her own version of events that had previously been documented on TV.
“My life has been shared very openly [and] vulnerably through a lens of a television show. It’s always been for entertainment,” she explained on Us Weekly‘s “Here for the Right Reasons” podcast in November 2021. “And while a lot of that was my real life, there’s a lot of parts that fall through the cracks [and] that are filtered out. Instead of it being told through a funnel of other people, I really wanted to take the time and be able to share my story my way and the most authentic way.”
James, for his part, wrote about things he claims he discussed that never made it to air during his season of The Bachelor, which aired in early 2021. “I shared all those things so that the women who were pursuing me — as well as the viewers — to have context to why I was the way I was,” the former football player told Us in May 2022, referring to stories about his past hardships that he detailed in his book, First Impressions. “And when they didn’t have that context, there are just a lot of things didn’t add up.”
It’s not just leads who’ve joined the book club, however. Tyler Cameron, who appeared on Brown’s season of The Bachelorette, published You Deserve Better: What Life Has Taught Me About Love, Relationships, and Becoming Your Best Self in July 2021.
Cameron told Us that he wanted to correct the record after fans praised him for “the bare minimum” after The Bachelorette. “I’m like, all I did was respect a woman,” he told Us in June 2021. “But then I realized, like, there’s something wrong with our culture right now if this is what is being praised. This should be the norm. That’s kind of what really motivated me to write this book and kind of the core of this book.”

Abigail Heringer
The Bachelor Nation star, who appeared on season 25 of The Bachelor and season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise, will release her first book, The Deaf Girl: A Memoir of Hearing Loss, Hope, and Fighting Against the Odds, in September 2024.
“In 2021, many of you met me for the first time when I stepped out of the limousine in a quest for love,” Heringer wrote as part of her announcement in May 2024. “My introduction included a playful mention of my deafness meant as a light-hearted pickup line, but it sparked a much-needed conversation about hearing loss in mainstream media. Since then, I’ve received numerous messages from people sharing their own experiences with hearing loss.”
Jason Tartick
The Bachelorette season 14 alum released his first book, The Restart Roadmap: Rewire and Reset Your Career, in 2022. His second book, Talk Money to Me: The 8 Essential Financial Questions to Discuss With Your Partner, hit shelves in April 2024.
Clayton Echard
The season 26 leading man wrote a book about mental health titled, 180 Degrees: On Mental Health, Mindfulness, and Unlocking Self-Belief, which was released in January 2023. In the self-help memoir, Echard opens up about his own mental health journey following his time on the reality series.
Matt James
The North Carolina native published First Impressions in May 2022. In the book, he revealed that he didn't know he would be the franchise's first Black Bachelor when he accepted the gig in June 2020. “I wasn’t really asking the right questions or, I guess, I didn’t think that was something that hadn’t been done," he told Us ahead of the book's release. "It’s 2022, I didn’t think that that was something that we hadn’t crossed yet."
Hannah Brown
The Dancing With the Stars winner revealed plenty of juicy stories in her November 2021 memoir, God Bless This Mess: Learning to Live and Love Through Life's Best (and Worst) Moments — including that she hooked up with Peter Weber while his Bachelor season was still airing.
Brown is set to release her first novel, Mistakes We Never Made, in May 2024.
Tyler Cameron
The model's July 2021 book, You Deserve Better: What Life Has Taught Me About Love, Relationships, and Becoming Your Best Self, detailed his romance with Brown during her season of The Bachelorette. “The fact that we could easily talk all night was what made me think, ‘Holy s—t, this could be it for me,’” he wrote of their time in the fantasy suites. “I was genuinely upset when I saw the sun coming up, because I knew our time together was coming to an end."
Rachel Lindsay
The season 13 Bachelorette published Miss Me with That: Hot Takes, Helpful Tidbits, and a Few Hard Truths in January 2022. "I wanted to write the book because my life has changed so much, and so much of what I was doing was dictated by fear,” Lindsay told the University of Texas at Austin’s The Alcalde magazine ahead of the book's release. “And being treated as the country’s most eligible Bachelorette — there’s a level of perfection that’s attached to you. And we are so far from that. So, I almost wanted to break myself down from that image.”
In March 2023, Lindsay released her first romance novel, Real Love. In the book, the main character receives an invite to participate in a dating reality show but turns it down.
Peter Weber
The season 24 Bachelor wrote a children's book called The Adventures of Pilot Pete, which was published in November 2021.
