Despite the X-rated video becoming a best seller and catapulting the reality star to new heights of fame, the 33-year-old has always denied producing the tape herself.

In a recent interview, Farrah claimed tape was her former management's idea - and that her own father ultimately helped her negotiate a deal with a porn company for its release.

'I was a hot mess. Definitely hanging around with the wrong people,' she shared on the Holly Randall Unfiltered podcast.

'I handled it as best as I could. I feel like I handled it with grace compared to what I really know that I went through,' she continued.

'I think some other people were like, "Yeah Farrah, make the best out of it." And that's kind of really where my parents stood, so I had my dad [Michael] come with me and my daughter [Sophia].

'It's just like, I'm a young teen mom. This is how I handle it. It's not like I have Kris Jenner and the Kardashians forging some celebrity sex tape deal.'

Farrah's video, titled Backdoor Teen Mom, was released in 2013 when she was 22.

A few months before the tape's release, Farrah, her father Michael, and her young daughter Sophia were spotted by TMZ heading to a porn company to negotiate the release of the tape.

'Are you here to negotiate for your daughter?' a reporter asked Michael, who then responded, 'I'm just here to support my daughter.'

The reporter pressed the topic and asked, 'Are you helping her out in terms of negotiating the terms?'

Michael replied, 'She's just trying to figure out what's going on.'

Farrah then chimed in and said that she'd received offers from two other companies and that she was thankful for her father 'helping out' with the difficult situation.

During a 2013 appearance on Dr Phil, Farrah insisted that she had filmed the sex tape for her own personal use and never intended for it to be released.

She then blamed her sex tape co-star, actor and professional porn performer James Deen, for making the tape public so he could 'promote himself' and 'get more famous.'

However, Deen had a different story, telling both Playboy and TMZ that he had been approached by a porn company to create a celebrity sex tape with Farrah.

During a 2013 appearance on The Adam Carolla Show, Deen described filming the video with Farrah as a 'day at the office.'

He also said that a director was involved in the video, despite the fact that it was filmed to look like a homemade sex tape as opposed to a professional adult film.

'Before the scene, [Farrah] seemed very awkward and bizarre about it, like it wasn't something that she was into doing,' he admitted.

After the release of Backdoor Teen Mom, Farrah cashed-in on her adult fame by releasing a mold of her genitals through a sex toy company.

She also released a trilogy of erotic novels and signed a lucrative contract to work at a strip club in Austin, Texas.

In 2017, she was fired from MTV's Teen Mom OG for her work in the adult industry.

Farrah now sells explicit content on OnlyFans and ManyVids, and also has a page on Playboy's creator platform.

In 2022, she was accused of selling her own poop to subscribers in small jars, according to The Sun.

'I handled it as best as I could. I feel like I handled it with grace compared to what I really know that I went through,' she said

Farrah also met her most recent boyfriend through OnlyFans.

She revealed that he was a subscriber and she got to know him through the site before they met up in real life and made their relationship official.

The mom-of-one first shot to fame in 2009 on MTV's 16 & Pregnant, before starring on the spin-off Teen Mom.

She also starred on Celebrity Big Brother, Couples Therapy, and Ex on the Beach, released a New York Times bestselling memoir, and a pop album that was named one of the best albums of 2012 by The Guardian.

Farrah appears to be making a good living off of adult entertainment.

Despite no longer being on television, the former star just bought a $123,000 Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast Foundation for daughter Sophia, who will turn 16 in February.

Sophia is currently unable to drive the car alone due to only having a learner's permit.

Last year, Farrah courted controversy when she posted a video of Sophia getting multiple face piercings to celebrate her 14th birthday.

But she defended herself against concerned fans by noting that the piercings were done by professionals.

Farrah added that she objected to parents who look the other way at underage drinking or teen sex — a viewpoint she adopted after becoming a teen mother herself — and she hoped that letting Sophia get piercings was a safer, more supervised form of teenage rebellion.

She experienced tragedy ahead of Sophia's birth, as her daughter's father Derek Underwood was killed in a car crash just two months before her birth.
