Cheryl Burke is single, but she’s not dabbling in the dating scene.
The former “Dancing With the Stars” pro dancer opened up about her inactive dating life on the February 13, 2025 episode of the “I Do Part 2” podcast.” After she was asked about the last time she went on a date, the divorced dancer admitted it’s been a while. “I don’t know, I mean, I can check my calendar,” Burke said. “Oh, for sure it was when I was just moving. Okay, zero interest, [I] don’t even try.”
Burke divorced her husband Matthew Lawrence in 2022 and moved from her longtime Hollywood Hills home to Santa Barbara the following year. That means it’s been over a year since she last went on a date.
“I’m not dating and I’m choosing not to date,” Burke said on the podcast. “Like forget the marriage. How much is meeting somebody? I’m like, I am perfectly content in this home, with these four walls. I never have to leave.”

In 2022, Burke opened up about her newly single life in an episode of her “Burke in the Game” podcast. At the time, she was hesitant to date but admitted she hoped to find love again someday.
“I am on this journey of basically surrendering my fate to our listeners,” she said. “And it’ll be very interactive, so they will choose what I need to do to get to where I can date and to hopefully eventually, like eventually, like, the word dating makes me want to throw up a little bit right now, so I’m clearly not ready for that, but eventually, hopefully find love.”
She also clarified that she would “definitely not” use dating apps. “I haven’t been in the dating scene since before, maybe dating apps were invented,” she said. “My listeners are like, ‘You have to do that,’ like, this is part of the process, but I just find it so disgusting. People can just swipe… it’s all about the way you look, right?”
In 2024, Burke told Us Weekly she used to be a “serial dater” before her marriage. At the time she vowed to stay single and celibate. “Never say never, but I have no plans of joining a dating app, and nor do I ever think or see myself looking,” she told the outlet last year. “I think it will happen when it happens. When my energy shifts, then I know if it does happen, I’m ready. I’m not in a rush.”
Cheryl Burke Said Some Men Don’t Deserve Her
On “I Do Part 2,” Burke revealed that she does not always check all of the messages in her DMs, but she noted that guys do slide in. “Of course, I still think guys are hot. That doesn’t mean that they deserve me,” she said, adding that she’s not even texting with any suitors at this point. “Right now I am in the best shape in the world right now. More than when I was on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’” she said.
Burke also revealed that at age 40 she has not chosen to freeze her eggs. “I don’t plan on ever doing that,” she said.
She shared that she has thought about surrogacy or adoption but is still unsure if children are in her future. Instead, Burke said she wanted to focus on her post-DWTS career after retiring from the show in 2022 after 26 seasons.
“I’m not ready yet,” she said of having children. “And I don’t feel like I have started my second chapter yet in my career yet, so like I don’t want to. I don’t think it would be responsible for me to bring in a kid right now.”
