Former “Dancing With the Stars” pro Cheryl Burke thinks that Sharna Burgess will be back for season 34. Burke’s comment came on the November 15 episode of the “Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans” podcast. She and her podcast guest, DWTS insider Kristyn Burtt, were talking about Burgess’ return to the show for its 500th episode. With that, they both feel that Burgess isn’t done with the show.
“I think it would be fun to see her back. And I feel like she has a lot left to do, a lot left to prove. She’s already won the Mirrorball Trophy, but I hate that people doubt her because they don’t like her contestant who won with her, and you know that’s crazy. Bobby Bones was voted as the winner. That’s the way it goes. And she has her Mirrorball to prove it because she put in the hard work, all the choreography or rehearsal all the time. You can’t ever deny that,” Burtt said.
“She’s not done being a pro. I don’t think yet. Like she looks good,” Burke added. “She obviously loves the show, and there was you know a little bit of whatever happened there for a few years. But I think she still is in amazing shape, and she obviously loves and adores the show, but also still loves dance, and I think just to give her another try and another shot,” she added.
Burgess took some time off from DWTS after giving birth to her son, Zane. She hasn’t been asked to compete on the show since season 30.
After watching Burgess dance on the show’s 500th episode on November 12, 2024, dozens of fans took to Reddit to say that they’d love to see her return.
“The walk? The eye contact? The unique style? She adds so much to this cast, even in her small spotlight here. I’d love to see her back on the cast,” one Redditor wrote, kicking off a new thread.
“I didn’t think I cared if she was back or not but this dance reminded how much I love and miss her,” someone else said.
“She is CAPTIVATING. My god I couldn’t not watch her,” a third person said of Burgess’ performance.
“She was [fire emoji] in this number!!! She was the star,” another comment read.
Burgess is definitely open to a return to DWTS if the offer was on the table.
“If they did ask me, I think I would love to have one more season there with everyone as a way to button it up. After 14 years on the show, it doesn’t feel like it was a beautiful way for it to end after so much love and so much memory,” she told E! News in an article published on October 9, 2024.
Burgess hoped to be a part of season 32 and felt shocked when she didn’t get the call.
“I wasn’t asked back to do ‘Dancing With the Stars’ this year, which was definitely a huge shock to me. I don’t know if that means I’ll ever get to do it again. And to be feeling that uncertainty of, ‘Wow. Is that part of my journey over now’?” Burgess said on the September 12, 2023, episode of the “Old-ish” podcast.
