Gardner Minshew is frustrated with his turnovers in the Raiders loss to the Rams.
On Sunday, the Las Vegas Raiders suffered yet another loss, despite having a rather large crowd behind them. It's their third in a row, and it drops them to a 2-5 record on the year. This time they lost to the Los Angeles Rams, by a score of 20-15.
Things started going downhill early, when Aidan O'Connell was forced to exit the game early due to a thumb injury. Gardner Minshew filled in for him, and didn't do very well.
Minshew threw three interceptions, and lost a fumble as well. That fumble ended up being returned for a touchdown. All 20 of the Rams' points on Sunday actually came as a direct result of Minshew's turnovers. If there was any player that hurt the Raiders the most on Sunday, it was Minshew.
However, if there's anybody unhappy with his performance, it seems to be Minshew, according to News 3 LV's Jesse Merrick.
Minshew explains that he's very frustrated. He also points out that he's 'never turned the ball over like this' in his life.
Looking at his stats, he's actually right. Through six games that he's played in now, Minshew has thrown eight picks, an average of over one per game. In seasons in which he's played at least nine games, Minshew's highest interception total came in 2023, when he threw 9 interceptions in 13 games started.
Minshew's already nearly matched that total in less than half the games. With O'Connell likely out for the foreseeable future with his thumb injury, Minshew is going to need to be much better if the Raiders want any hope at turning their season around.
