Gona spoke about the blended-family dynamics during a 2024 appearance on the Got It from My Momma podcast, saying divorces shouldn’t mark “the death of a relationship,” especially when children are involved.

But now you have an opportunity, you have this responsibility to these children that you chose to bring into this world… Show them, ‘Look, we weren’t great at [being married],’ but we love you enough… We’re still great partners. We just weren’t supposed to be romantic partners.’ There’s still pride in that. There’s nothing wrong with that. I think the crux of it all is you have to truly love your children more than you hate your ex.”
