“He Reminded Us What Love Looks Like”: Candace Cameron Bure Says Her Son Helped Save Her Marriage During Its Hardest Chapter

"Dancing With the Stars” alum Candace Cameron Bure is opening up about a rough patch she experienced in her marriage with Valeri Bure and how their son Lev helped out.

Candance Cameron Bure Spills About 'Rough Season' in Marriage, How Son Fought to Save It

During an episode of “The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast” the “Fuller House” actor revealed, “Val and I went through a really, really rough season in our marriage in 2020 … it was going south quickly …” adding that they didn’t know if they would “make it through.”

According to Bure, her son Lev, 25, “played one of the most pivotal roles” in helping his parents work things out.

Lev’s Words of Wisdom

Bure shared that all three of her children, including daughter Natasha, 26, and son Maksim, 23, sat her and Val down for a serious talk, but “Lev was the one leading the charge …”

“Lev preached like a 45 minute sermon on marriage to us … had his bible open on the couch and just talked about it,” Bure said. She went on to recall her son adding a caveat to his speech as well. “He said, ‘You know, I know I haven’t been married. I’m just a young kid … But I don’t need to be married to know what the word of God says.’”

The former co-host of “The View” was extremely impressed with Lev’s maturity. “He was just such a calm voice that had so much wisdom behind it …” Bure said that Lev went on to ask each of his parents if they had truly done everything they could to make things work.

Bure shared that she and Val came away from the conversation thinking “we’ve raised some pretty good kids.” Lev’s words did the trick, as Bure noted that the conversation was “the pivotal moment” that set her and Val on the path back to happiness.

Bure’s Advice For a Strong Marriage

This was not the first time Bure was candid about her relationship with her husband, to whom she has been married since 1996.

In 2024, Bure shared with Us Weekly her secret to such a long lasting union. “… we’re able to be open and honest with each other and it might hurt but we love each other so much … it’s supportive in building each other up,” she said.

Bure also said that she and Val simply enjoy each other’s company. “ … we have a lot of laughs and we have a lot of love for each other,” the actor explained.
