'He's a Baller!' Tristan Wirfs Reveals Thoughts on Tom Brady vs. Baker Mayfield

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were at a crossroads at the end of 2021. A year removed from their second Super Bowl in franchise history and facing the retirement of Tom Brady, they needed an answer at quarterback.

'He's a Baller!' Tristan Wirfs Reveals Thoughts on Tom Brady vs. Baker Mayfield

But who would want to follow Brady in a Bucs uniform?

Offensive lineman Tristan Wirfs was a rookie during that Super Bowl season and played his first two years in the NFL with Brady.

And while it might be easy to compare all other quarterbacks he plays with to Brady, that's not necessarily the case for Wirfs.

The now-five-year veteran sat down with The 33rd Team's Ari Meirov to discuss the team's transition from Brady to Baker and his relationship with the former Heisman Trophy winner.

"Yeah, I thought it went pretty smooth. I mean Baker came in and kind of just won everyone over, just with being who he is, you know? His personality is incredible and he's a baller. He's a dawg," Wirfs said. "It was really cool for me, you know. I mean, basically [Baker] is a little bit older than me, but, like, somebody — Tom was 22 years older than me — so like having somebody my age and that I could hang out with, go to dinner with, just all that stuff. So I think that really helped us click off the bat.

"I thought it was a really smooth transition. You know Bake's my quarterback. I'll ride or die for him. It's pretty awesome, I love him to death."

Wirfs has repeatedly said over the past two seasons that this is "Bake's team" and that anyone he plays with will happily run through the proverbial wall for him.

Here's to many more years of success for both.
