In July 2023, Heather Dubrow announced that she and Dr. Terry Dubrow purchased a "dream house" in Beverly Hills and had started renovating it. More than a year later, The Real Housewives of Orange County cast member gave an update on the construction process, revealing it has come with quite a few bumps in the road.
In the video above, a first look at Part 1 of the RHOC Season 18 reunion, host Andy Cohen asks Heather, "What's happening construction-wise on the new home?"
With a laugh, Heather declares, "Oh my god, it's a disaster."
When Andy — who recently remodeled his new Manhattan apartment as well as a beach house in the Hamptons — seems surprised, Heather explains, "You know how you and I always talk about our construction things? How it's, like, twice the time, twice the budget? We're sort of in that land."
Although Heather didn't share her updated renovation costs in the clip above, the Season 18 premiere of RHOC noted that after she and Terry paid $16 million for the house, their running total after factoring in their renovation would be $32 million.
"This house, we're going to take down to the studs," Heather shared on the premiere. As she and Terry talked through their plans, it was estimated that the duo will spend "2 to 3 million" for landscaping, "just over 2 million" on a guest house, and 1 million dollars on the movie theater, among many other changes.
Before buying the house, Heather discussed the renovation possibilities with her realtor, Josh Altman, on Season 15, Episode 8 of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles.
"If you do what you do to this, the sky is the limit value-wise," Josh said. "I know you like a deal, and I know that you, like me, like money. You're going to have one of the most iconic properties in Los Angeles. Think about that."
After submitting an offer and getting accepted, Heather declared, "I think the house has great bones, and I already have a vision for how I want to change it.”
In 2022, nearly a year before they bought the Beverly Hills house, Heather and Terry purchased a penthouse in Los Angeles that boasts incredible views and a hidden champagne room.
However, on the Season 18 premiere, Heather explained that because the spacious penthouse apartment has "only two bedrooms," the couple and their kids "need a family home." With that in mind, Heather declared, "Enter Beverly Hills."
