It’s been a few years since Mark Ballas last appeared on “Dancing With the Stars,” but after 20 seasons on the show, he’s not someone who will soon be forgotten. A three-time Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy winner and one of the most recognizable dancers, fans were devastated when he decided to leave.
But on July 31, Ballas surprised fans when he posted a video showing him and Jenna Johnson dancing together. Speculation of what it may mean went wild. Several comments have also led many to suspect there’s more to this video than Ballas is revealing.
Fans Go Wild Over Mark Ballas and Jenna Johnson Dance Video
“Going back to basics is not a step backward. It’s often the first step to progress,” Ballas posted the Instagram video of him and Johnson ballroom dancing, tagging his mom, Shirley Ballas. Former “Bachelor” and “Dancing With the Stars” Season 33 winner Joey Graziadei jokingly commented, “Yeah you two are really good at dancing…” Former DWTS pro Allison Holker also wrote “😍.” But those weren’t the comments that grabbed everyone’s attention.
One person innocently wrote, “Would love to see mark on this season.” They probably weren’t expecting a response from Ballas’s dad.
“u never know 🤣🤣🤣😋,” Corky Ballas replied.
“–OK–THAT CONFIRMS IT!!” another Instagrammer wrote in the thread.
Whether that confirms that Ballas is returning remains to be seen, but fans have their fingers crossed.
Ballas Silenced Critics of His ‘The Traitors’ Casting With His Trophies
Since leaving “Dancing With the Stars,” Ballas has kept busy. He and his wife, BC Jean, became parents in 2023. He appeared on the show “Whose Line is it Anyway?” in which he pretended to be a dolphin alongside Wayne Brady. And most recently, he was cast on Season 4 of “The Traitors,” which will begin airing on August 14.
For “The Traitors,” Ballas was one of 23 contestants, all public figures or reality stars. When the casting was first announced, TikTok content creator Louis Levanti made a post questioning why Ballas was asked to be on the show and not someone else from DWTS.
“Why not Pasha?” Levanti said. “Why not [expletive] Bruno, why not Ezra? There are so many other options, like, why Mark?”
Ballas stitched Levanti’s video to his own, defending his casting.
“Oh, I’ll tell you why me,” he said. Then he panned the camera over to his three trophies. “That’s why. Eleven finals, too. Stay blessed.”
Friends and fans also threw their support behind Ballas’s casting, with Derek Hough, Tay Lautner, and his mom all chiming in.
“Who is that dude?” Hough wrote. “Embarrassed for him.”
