I’m the NBA star who Jake Paul flattened in boxing knockout with Snoop Dogg’s commentary on Mike Tyson’s undercard, now I’m fighting to survive after kidney failure

Nate Robinson was KO'd by Jake Paul in a bizarre clash on Mike Tyson's undercard, though nowadays he has an even tougher fight on his hands.

The YouTuber-turned boxer was appearing in his second fight as a professional boxer on the same Triller show as Iron Mike's comeback exhibition against Roy Jones Jr in November 2020.

Paul had previously KOd fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib in his pro debut, which came after a white collar win over Deji.

Looking to continue his professional progression, he took on former basketball player Robinson on a wild Triller PPV.

The fight began in quite farcical fashion as Robinson bum-rushed Paul and then continuously charged at his opponent, swinging wildly but failing to land clean.

Paul made him pay for his recklessness towards the end of the round as a counter right floored Robinson.

He made it back to his feet and survived the round, but complained the shot hit him on the back of the head.

As it turned out, the end was nigh regardless.

Paul found another big right hand to send Robinson back to the canvas midway through round two.

A seemingly long count from the referee saw Robinson back to his feet and somehow allowed to continue despite not appearing to have his full wits about him.

The inevitable then happened as Paul landed one final huge right hand to flatten Robinson and secure the KO.

Robinson was knocked cold and needed medical attention, but eventually made it to his stool.

Snoop Dogg's commentary stole the headlines as he yelled after the first knockdown: "Oh my God! "Lord have mercy! Oh Jesus!"

He then began choral singing while Robinson got back to his feet: "Take my hand, lead me home, let me stand."

When the end came in round two, Snoop added: "Goodnight, Irene. Oh Lord! Call the ambulance!"

He then uttered the memorable line when watching Tyson and Jones scrap.

"This s*** is like two of my uncles fighting at the barbecue," he joked, which brought laughs from his co-commentators and many more at home.

He will sadly not be on commentary for Paul's upcoming fight against Tyson on November 15.

While Paul's boxing journey has progressed to the upcoming super fight, Robinson obviously never fought again, at least not inside the ring.

After vomiting at a training session as a young rookie, the NBA guard underwent tests and found out his kidneys were not functioning properly - an issue his father had also encountered.

Robinson took medication and pursued his career regardless, knowing that one day his kidneys could fail - a day which came in 2021.

He was told he must begin dialysis (treatments to remove waste and fluids from the blood as kidneys should) immediately or be at risk of dying.

Ever since then, he's been undergoing these gruelling three-and-a-half-hour treatments three times a week for three years while waiting for a potential transplant which, as of yet, has not materialised.

Robinson was initially depressed and hesitant to publicly appeal for a donor, but has since done so and received potential offers.

He is now taking multiple daily medications to keep his blood pressure down in the hope that he will be able to go through with a transplant in the coming months.

While his boxing match didn't go in his favour, this is a fight Robinson remains determined to win.

"Later on in life, when I get a kidney, I'm going to be looking back, like, 'Damn, I really went through all this,'" he told ESPN.

"That kidney I get, I'm going to cherish it. I'm going to treat it like a baby. I'm going to do everything I'm supposed to do...

"Every time I wake up and open my eyes, I pray. I go to sleep, and I pray. I'm just thankful, man.

"Say I don't wake up tomorrow. I had a good life. I worked hard at what I did to get to where I was - and for people to know who I am. I worked damn hard for that.

"I had to grind to get out of the mud. And, I'm going to grind to get out of the mud of this, too."
