The Cleveland Browns could have one of the more eventful drafts this year come April. And if one writer has it his way, they won't be taking a quarterback at No. 2.
Cleveland has a lot to think about this offseason, especially after the news of Deshaun Watson's second Achilles injury in three months.
But the NFL Draft could take a weird turn for the Browns according to one insider.
USA Today's Cory Woodroof proposed a trade of the No. 2 overall draft pick to the New York Giants.
But what about a quarterback in Cleveland? Woodroof first suggested that the Atlanta Falcons would cut Kirk Cousins only to be picked up by the Browns.
"The Browns have Cousins, so they’ll make a quick swap with the New York Giants, who are right by them with the third-overall pick," Woodroof wrote. "New York gets in place to land its quarterback of the future."
Unfortunately, Woodroof doesn't expound on the trade any further, or suggest what the Browns receive in return, which is kind of important. But I can't image Browns fans being happy with Cousins under center considering his age, injury history and his performance under center in Atlanta last season.
Especially considering Cousins suffered the same injury Watson is dealing with in 2023 while with the Vikings.
What's the most logical move? Pick the best quarterback available at No. 2 and go from there.
