Over the weekend, a Dancing with the Stars fan account on Facebook shared an unexpected story claiming that Hayley Erbert would be joining the DWTS judging panel next season. Erbert previously appeared on the show as a troupe member.
As of this writing, the Facebook post as 4,000 likes, with several people sharing their excitement in the comments. However, there are several reasons not to believe this rumor. For one, the post features a couple of obviously AI-generated images of Erbert and her husband Derek Hough.
The post also refers to Erbert being in an accident. Although Erbert has faced health issues in the past couple of years, this was due to a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel. Erbert underwent an emergency craniotomy in December 2023.
The Facebook account in question has also posted several other bogus reports in recent days, including one about DWTS judge Carrie Ann Inaba being pregnant at age 57, and another about Bruno Tonioli secretly marrying his partner Jason Schanne — both featuring AI-generated images.
Erbert Has Not Been Announced as a Judge
If you’re still not convinced that this rumor is false, note that there have been no official announcements naming Erbert as a judge for Season 34, which is expected to air on ABC this fall. As of this writing, the judging panel is expected to once again feature Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli.
So far, only two celebrity cast members have been announced for the new season — Robert Irwin and Alix Earle. Their professional partners have yet to be announced. As for the show’s hosts, Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough are expected to return.
