And in the time since then, The Valley cast members and parents to 3-year-old son, Cruz Cauchi, have had a lot of time to reflect on the future of their relationship and what comes next for the both of them. But, some things, as it turns out, are still up in the air.
Are Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright still married?
Yes, but they are also still separated. TMZ caught up with Jax at the airport ahead of his 45th birthday celebration, where he gave some new updates on his relationship status. "You know, Brittany and I are separated, and we're just trying to figure it out, so, I don't know what you want to call it, but um, I don't look at it that way," he said.
"I'm not dating or anything, so, I don't know, it's confusing," he admitted, stating that he "didn't know" if there would be a reconciliation.
And after doing so much traveling for work, Jax told the outlet that he was ready to go home to his family. "I actually miss my family a lot because I've been gone for the last 12 days," he said.
Jax and Brittany were able to reunite at his birthday party on Thursday, July 11, where Brittany was briefly seen in the background of a video posted to Jax's Instagram Story on Friday, July 12. But, like Jax said, things are "confusing."
Jax Taylor reveals why he is "still seeing" Brittany Cartwright
During an early June episode of their shared podcast, When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany, Brittany stated that they are "still very much separated" even though they continue to spend time together for the sake of their son. Jax elaborated on this noting that their relationship isn't just cut and dry.
"People ask me all the time, like, 'Well if you're separated, why do you keep seeing each other?' Because this is what's working," he explained. "And we're trying to exhaust everything else before we decide to call it quits. We're trying to live separately, we're trying to possibly date other people, [and] we're trying to, you know, figure out what works for us."
Although Brittany stills lives in an AirBnb, she does still sometimes stay over the house where she once shared with Jax. "We still like to do family things together," she added. "I know it seems very weird, but you know, there are other days where we fight really bad and we can't even see each other. So it's very weird and up and down."
