Jax Taylor is taking time to focus on himself.
Taylor announced via Instagram Stories on Thursday, June 5, that he will be taking a social media break.
“I’ve made the decision to stay off social media for the next while to prioritize my mental health and recovery,” Taylor, 45, wrote. “My team will be running it for the time being.”
On Thursday's episode of the In the Mind of Jax Taylor podcast, Taylor explained to his sister Jenny that certain posts on social media can be triggering.
“My brain is so fragile, and if I see certain things, they might trigger me,” he said. “Something might hit a chord, and I don’t think I’m strong enough to read certain things.”
“For me to grow and get better and be a better person, there are some things I need to see in order to know what’s going on,” he admitted, adding, “But I think I took it so much to the extreme of blocking everything and living in my own little world."
“The phone has become a problem,” he admitted. “Do I need to be on social media? No, I don’t.”
Taylor was recently seen having candid conversations about his mental health on Bravo'sThe Valley after checking into a treatment facility.
“I’m so tired of anger. I’m so tired of yelling,” Taylor said in the June 3 episode, before detailing his mistakes with his estranged wife Brittany Cartwright. The two share son Cruz, 4, together.
“I also pushed her away. I pushed her away and I didn’t even f------ see it," Taylor said of Cartwright. "I didn’t even realize what I was doing. I’ve gotten away with it for so long that I found this to be acceptable behavior and it’s obviously not.”
Cartwright, 36, admitted in the same episode: “I was always hopeful that being in the facility would make some kind of change or open his eyes just a little bit to do something better. But based on his behavior the whole time he’s been in there, I am so worried that he hasn’t learned a damn thing.”
Taylor, who has been open about his diagnosis of bipolar disorder, explained that he would turn to drugs and alcohol as a coping mechanism.
“It was really, really bad, man," he said on the May 8 episode of his podcast In the Mind of Jax Taylor. "My ego got in the way of me ... Drugs and alcohol were a problem, but they weren't the problem. I used drugs and alcohol to mask all my problems. Validation, insecurity, ego, manipulation, narcissism, all these things that people told me, anger issues ... my family issues.”
