Jordan Davis has turned heads at Eagles training camp (for all the right reasons)

One Philadelphia Eagles player seems to have everyone's attention when it comes to the shape that he is in: Jordan Davis.

Much has been discussed about Davis entering Eagles' training camp, having lost 26 pounds and looking slimmer than he ever has. So what is his secret?

"I wanted to make the changes because it's absolutely necessary, like cutting out the extra sugars, cutting out the juice. You can't drink your calories," Davis said via CBS Sports' Jeff Kerr. "I'm starting to understand that and how detrimental that is. I'm getting older. I can't just go out and run a couple miles and the weight sheds off me. It takes more effort to get in that mode."

Davis' transformation could be exactly what the Eagles needed in 2025

While he hasn't completely blown everyone away, Davis has been a reliable starter on the defensive line since being the Eagles' first-round pick in 2022. In 47 games, he has made 90 tackles, six tackles for loss, six quarterback hits, 3.5 sacks, four pass deflections, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

One thing that has been noticeable about Davis is that he has had a history of being out of shape earlier in a game than expected. That was covered up by having depth at defensive tackle with players like Milton Williams, Jalen Carter, Moro Ojomo, and others to help.

Williams' loss in free agency has almost forced Davis' hand, and he has answered the call. The Eagles are looking for him to take a bigger role on the roster, and he seems ready to answer it.

"(I'm) understanding that my role is bigger and what's expected of me is greater and so on," Davis said via Kerr. "Obviously you have to change and adapt. I'm just glad I'm at this place now and I can hit the ground running. 

"I just want to be the best for the team but not just the team but for my brothers."

During the offseason, the Eagles put their trust in Davis by rewarding him as they picked up his fifth-year option in his rookie season. The franchise is backing him up, and he knows that he needs to take that next step in his career.
