Kandi Burruss reacted to Riley Burruss‘ dispute with Ariana Biermann on Next Gen NYC while appearing on Tuesday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live.
While also sharing her thoughts on a reconciliation with Kim Zolciak, 47, taking issue with Charlie Zakkour, 30, and reacting to the financial assistance Ariana, 23, has given to her mom, Kandi, 49, addressed a potential return to The Real Housewives of Atlanta, discussed her regrets, commented on Riley’s new boyfriend, and more.
“I think Riley would’ve been mad at me because I would’ve told her she was wrong in that situation. Well, not wrong. Let me take that back. I didn’t think she was wrong for what she said, because both of us, we say what we feel and we’re harsh sometimes, but I was just like, I didn’t like the fact that she called the girl dumb,” Kandi explained on the July 15 episode of WWHL.
On Next Gen NYC, Riley, 22, and Ariana disagreed about Georgia McCann‘s idea for a nightclub bowling alley. While Riley was unimpressed, Ariana suggested that her criticism of the idea was a mistake, which Riley denied, pressing on as Gia Giudice, 24, also called her out.
“You could’ve said it how you said it, but when it started going back and forth, she didn’t have to call her dumb. So yes, I would’ve had Riley’s back, but I would’ve told her, ‘You need to take that down a notch,'” Kandi added.
As for Riley’s rekindled friendship with Ariana, Kandi admitted she was “surprised.”
“Because the way that they connected was like they never stopped being around each other,” she noted.
Regarding her potential reconciliation with Kim, Kandi admitted she was more likely to make amends with Kim than Phaedra Parks, 51.
“To be clear, I don’t see Kim ever, but because Riley and Ariana are friends, I would say Kim,” she shared.
Moving on to Charlie, whom Riley called out for microaggressions earlier this season, Kandi said she “had a lot of thoughts.”
“I just don’t like his whole approach this whole season. He’s a little older than them. Not a little. He’s a good bit older than Riley. And I just kind of feel like the way he talks to women, the way he handles himself, I don’t like it. I don’t like it!” she declared. “I was gonna send somebody up there, but I had to bring myself out of it and remember Riley has to handle herself in her own situations, and I feel like she handled it well.”
When asked if Ariana should keep supporting Kim financially, Kandi first said, “No,” before clarifying her opinion on the matter.
“Once she gets established, yeah, but she’s trying to get established. But now if she was already established … she definitely needs to help her mom, but I feel like she’s just getting established,” she explained.
While Kandi only recently quit the show, she admitted that when it comes to a possible return, the door isn’t completely closed.
“I guess you can never say never, but I don’t really see it happening any time soon,” she stated.
Then, after confirming she does know Angela Oakley, 44, revealing she appeared as a guest on her podcast, Burruss Banter, Kandi was asked if she regretted getting upset with Porsha Williams’ sex dungeon comment since she was able to capitalize on it.
“I regret that because people always try to use that to be like, ‘Oh, maybe it was true,’” she confirmed.
As for whether she regretted befriending any specific cast members, Kandi clarified that she regrets getting “too close” to some.
“Because in the end, it feels like you never really have any true friendships on that show,” she confessed.
Also on the live broadcast, after reacting to the recent reveal of Riley’s new boyfriend, saying that she “[loves] him” and that he’s “really nice,” and noting that she hopes Riley will become a lawyer, Kandi expressed appreciation for the Wifetime Achievement Award she’s set to receive at this year’s BravoCon.
“I’m super excited about it. I was like, ‘Wait a minute. Ya’ll picking me? What?’ But I really do appreciate it. I feel like I put in a lot of time,” she explained.
Later, on the WWHL: After Show, Kandi was questioned about Drew Sidora‘s shady comments regarding Shamea Morton‘s singing.
“Both of those girls can really sing, so I mean, come on now, Drew. You can’t be shading somebody’s vocal ability,” she replied.
After then noting that the RHOA cast “all shade each other,” Kandi said both Drew and Shamea have put out “strong music.”
“If I’m just judging based on the music, both of them have really great songs, and I just kind of felt like obviously the cattiness of the show, they were being catty with each other, but you can’t deny that they’re both talented,” she stated.
Also commenting on the music drama of RHOA, Kandi admitted she “did not know” that Dennis McKinley was a producer.
“But he did a good job. I will say that,” she noted.
