The Minnesota Wild's 2024–25 season officially came to an end on Thursday at the hands of the Las Vegas Golden Knights, casting an even brighter spotlight on the looming contract negotiations with superstar forward Kirill Kaprizov.

Kaprizov battled through some injuries this year but still finished the season with 56 points—25 goals and 31 assists. The 2025–26 season marks the final year of his five-year, $45 million contract, and he's currently slated to become a free agent in the summer of 2026.

“I love everything here. It should be all good,” Kaprizov told reporters when asked about his contract situation on Sunday.

He didn’t seem the least bit concerned, saying he "probably" wants to get things done before the 2025–26 season—but added that it's something his agent will handle.

Minnesota’s 28-year-old superstar checks every box of a player you want to build a franchise around, and on Sunday, Kaprizov made it sound like it’s just a matter of time before a long-term deal gets done.

Other notable takeaways from the team’s exit interviews on Sunday included Joel Eriksson Ek revealing he’ll undergo surgery for a core muscle injury next week, though he expects to be ready for the start of the season. Veteran Mats Zuccarello also shared that he plans to treat next season like his last in the NHL and will reevaluate his future next offseason.
