Kristin Cavallari Declares She Built Her Empire Without a Dime From Her Ex: “I Did This on My Own”

The Uncommon James founder is speaking her truth about her split from Jay Cutler — and how she built her thriving business on her own. Kristin Cavallari is ready to put the speculation to rest.

On the June 18 episode of “Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour”, the reality star and entrepreneur, 38, got candid about her 2020 divorce from former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler.

Kristin unabashedly took on long-standing rumors about how much he contributed to her success.

Kristin Cavallari Says She Built Her $50M Brand Without Jay Cutler’s Help

Addressing whispers that Cutler funded her Uncommon James lifestyle brand, Cavallari shared, “Our revenue is close to $50 million a year.”

“But because I was a WAG—athletes’ wives and girlfriends, if you’re not familiar—people love to say that everything I have in my life is because of my ex-husband, and that my ex-husband funded Uncommon James,” she explained.

Cavallari made it clear that it simply wasn’t true. “I am, to this day, 100% owner, and I’ve never taken any outside funding,” she said. “I have never gotten a penny from my ex-husband. I didn’t get any money from our divorce, so let’s just clear that up.”

Kristin Cavallari Reflects on Life After Divorce

Later in the episode, Cavallari sat down with close friend and celebrity colorist Justin Anderson to reflect on life after marriage — and how her approach to love has changed.

She and Cutler, 42, share three children: sons Camden, 12, and Jaxon, 11, and daughter Saylor, 9.

“It became really f–king hard,” Cavallari said of getting back into dating. “I’m not going for toxic anymore. I am never gonna settle. I am waiting for my perfect.”

Anderson teased her about past relationships, noting that she had a habit of dating “really unhealthy guys.” He also asked if she ever felt challenged after “steamrolling” most of her partners.

“I couldn’t steamroll Jay,” Cavallari responded — though Anderson quipped, “Yeah, you could, you owned Jay.”

Cavallari clarified: “Yeah, but not in a way where I could do whatever the f–k I wanted. It wasn’t like I could just run all over him.”

Her Kids Keep Her Grounded — Especially in Dating

During the episode, Cavallari also gave fans an unfiltered glimpse into how her kids are helping to keep her grounded, especially when it comes to her dating life.

While chatting with her sons Camden, 12, and Jaxon, 11, she casually mentioned plans to head to Scottsdale, Arizona, after her tour, which prompted a round of playful questions. “What’s in Scottsdale?” Camden asked.

“That guy,” Cavallari replied, before clarifying, “He’s a baseball player.” Camden teased, “He [is] what mom? Like, who is this kid? Is he like 27?” Cavallari — who previously made headlines for dating 24-year-old TikTok star Mark Estes — responded, “He’s 30.” Without missing a beat, Jaxon chimed in, “Oh, mom, too young then,” as Camden added, “I dunno about it, mom. Dunno about it.”

Why She’s Not Rushing Into Anything

Though Cavallari kept her mystery man’s name private, she did offer a playful tease during a Boston stop on her live tour.

“I can’t tell you who the athletes are that I’m talking to at the moment,” she said, “because there’s two of them!”

And while she may be keeping the details quiet, Cavallari knows exactly what she’s looking for in a future partner.

“It’s gonna take someone really f–king special for me to want to continue to make them a priority and make time for someone,” she said in a confessional. “I want someone who is my rock, who I can really lean on and really trust, because I’ve never experienced that in a relationship.”
