When “Iron” Mike Tyson talked about his boxing mentality. He credits the boxing mentality to his coach Cus D’Amato who taught him about psychology in boxing.

The boxing mindset of Mike Tyson remains unmatched even with all the advancements in training facilities in the 21st Century:

In an old interview, he explained his mindset in boxing. Tyson said, “When I first met Cus, we didn’t talk about punching and moving your head.

We talked about the psychology of boxing and the psychology of fear. He had the psychology of fear down to a science, that was just, it was all psychological to Cus.

Cus believed boxing was 90 per cent psychological and 10 per cent physical. I was pretty much a psychological fighter, even though I come across fears.“

Tyson attributes his boxing mentality to his coach Cus D’Amato. Cus is an exceptional coach who trained Hall of Fame boxers such as Tyson, Floyd Patterson, and Jose Torres. He created the devastating force known as “Iron” Mike Tyson. In a 2008 documentary about Mike Tyson, archived footage showed how Cus trained Tyson.

Tyson credits Cus with building his confidence as a boxer in the 2008 documentary. He also remarks that Cus guided him as a father figure. Tyson and Cus believed that psychology remains the most crucial aspect of boxing.

Joe Rogan thinks Mike Tyson is the most incredible boxing talent:

Combat sports expert and analyst Joe Rogan has covered the sport for over twenty years. He has elite expertise in Taekwondo and Jiu-Jitsu. Rogn has witnessed many great fighters in his time. However, Rogan believes that Mike Tyson remains unmatched in terms of boxing skills and talent.

Joe Rogan said on his podcast, “There is a video of him throwing combinations on the back. And he’s probably like 18 years old. And it’s like you are just watching ridiculous, ruthless, violent combinations like no one has ever thrown before. I think Mike Tyson was the greatest freak that ever existed. I don’t think there has ever been anybody like that.”

Cus D’Amato trained Mike Tyson in his teenage years. He imparted psychological wisdom to Tyson to become the youngest Heavyweight Champion in boxing. Even in the 21st Century, with boxers like Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury, and Oleksandr Usyk, Rogan does not think anyone is more talented than Tyson.
