Despite the revelation, Monica Davis finds empathy in the situation, telling Stephen Richardson: "We're all human... It's not so black and white"
Love Is Blind's season 7 participants are getting vulnerable in the pods!
In PEOPLE's exclusive first look at a scene from the upcoming seventh season, which premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 2, Stephen Richardson admits a big secret that he's "not very proud of" while chatting with Monica Davis in the pods.
"Here's what I believe: you like someone for their qualities, but you love someone for their flaws," Stephen, 34, begins the conversation.
Monica, 37, agrees with the electrician and admits, "I've always been drawn to flaws."
"Believe me, girl, I've been the same way!" Stephen reassures her before opening up about his most recent relationship.
"I will divulge something that I am not very proud of it all, but I wear this brand, and I think it's very important to be honest about it," he tells the sales executive. "So we're going to talk about cheating. I technically hold the title of being a cheater. I've been cheated on multiple times as well."
Continuing, Stephen explains he was dating a woman but "believed I didn't deserve her," which led him to be unfaithful in an emotional way.
"Everyone has a different concept of cheating. One person's could be, you know, looking at someone. Someone else's could be an actual physical act," he says. "I basically slid into a girl's DMS like a dumba--, and we were flirting with intention. You're emotionally cheating at that point. I got caught, which I knew I would. I was very disappointed with myself ... we went through therapy, we figured it out [and] I'm actively in therapy to talk about these things."
Despite the revelation, Monica empathizes with the situation and reassures Stephen that navigating relationships as an adult is not always "so black and white."
"I really appreciate you sharing with me and I want you to feel like you can tell me anything," she says. "We're all human. I'm 36 years old, like, it's not so black and white. The experiences that I've had to deal with from cheating are — they are really gross, and very, very bad."
Still, Monica notes, "Even in those situations, I've always found a path to forgiveness."
Though it appears Stephen and Monica may be developing a connection, fans will have to tune in to find out what happens when season 7 premieres on Netflix on Wednesday.
The new season will follow singles ranging in age from 27 to 37 who are based in Washington D.C. Like in seasons past, the individuals must form connections in the pods and get engaged sight unseen before meeting in person for the first time. Ultimately, they'll have to decide whether or not to get married at the end of the experiment, and in doing so, prove whether love is truly blind.
