Marcus Foligno Criticized The Minnesota Wild For Lack Of Moves At The Trade Deadline

The 2025 NHL trade deadline was absolutely wild, with many key players moving teams and changing the landscape of the league, but surprisingly, the Minnesota Wild didn't make any big moves, or any moves at all.

That came as a shock to many given they held a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, as the team still sit six points clear of the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference heading into Monday's games.

Unsurprisingly, the lack of moves came as a frustration point to players on the team as well, as veteran Marcus Foligno has opened up on how the lack of big trades and aggressiveness frustrated the team.

'It's tough. We all want to win. We've been grinding for the past couple months, so it's just - I think you always want to see yourself as a team that's always going for it.'

While Foligno admitted that the key injuries to this team potentially played a role in the lack of moves at the deadline, but he also noted that it's hard not to be jealous when you see teams around the league, especially Winnipeg, Dallas and Colorado loading up to go for a run in 2024/25.

'We have a great team, but we're a different team without those three studs that we're missing. Would you have liked to add or done something? For sure. But when you're kind of going with Billy's plan and what we have to understand is it's moving chess pieces right now, and if you lose something you might regret it. And Billy doesn't want to be put in that position. We understand that side of it, too. But you look at other teams bulk up and it just kinda gives you a little bit of jealousy.'

Unfortunately, Minnesota's injuries are likely going to limit them in a big way this season as the playoffs approach, and the front office are likely looking towards the summer to make big changes, but with a chance to make a push this year, it's easy to see why Foligno and the healthy group would be frustrated.
