Mike Tyson‘s fearsome desire and self-belief is what propelled him to the top of heavyweight boxing in record time.

Mike Tyson Slams World Champion For ‘Lack of Heart’: “What’s Wrong With Him?”

‘Iron’ Mike burst onto the scene in the late 1980s and won his first 19 fights inside the first six rounds, and the majority of them inside the first couple.

His next-level power and unwavering intent saw him walk through many opponents on his way to becoming the youngest ever heavyweight champion of the world aged just 20 and carried him through many tough fights in later years.

Tyson was known as both fearsome and fearless, so takes particular issue with fighters not going for greatness – as evidenced in an interview with Marca discussing Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

Canelo is a multi weight champion who currently holds three of the four major super middleweight titles but has yet to agree to fight David Benavidez – the man most recognise as his toughest test in the division – despite previously being offered a rumoured $60 million deal. ‘Iron’ Mike wasn’t impressed by that news.

“I can’t believe what I just heard. What’s wrong with Canelo? Is he afraid of losing? Doesn’t he want to give the fans the fight they want to see? Don’t you want to give the fans the fight they want to see? Do you not respect the legacy of the great Mexican champions who faced the best regardless of the money?

This is a shame for boxing and for Mexico. If I were him, I would accept the fight with Benavidez and show the world that he is the best. But it seems he doesn’t have the courage to do it; It is a shame because he has a lot of talent but he lacks heart.”
