Minnesota Vikings Receive Massive Boost For Sam Darnold And Offense In Week 7

By the look of their early regular season record, the Minnesota Vikings don’t appear to need much luck. The offense had another thing go their way on Monday that will make quarterback Sam Darnold’s life a little easier in Week 7.

The Minnesota Vikings are hot to start the 2024 season

The Vikings sit atop the NFC North with a 5-0 record after their bye week. Darnold has been one of the biggest surprises of the season, as the former Jets first-round pick has gone 87-of-137 passing for 1,111 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions.

The Vikings have shown they need to do more upfront to protect Darnold. Minnesota has given up 15 sacks through five games, with Darnold getting shaken up in the process. Fortunately, his injuries have been minor so far this season.

Dalton Risner is set to return to practice

One veteran offensive lineman will return to the roster in Week 7. Per Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, the Vikings designated Dalton Risner to practice off injured reserve on Monday,

The Denver Broncos selected Risner with the No. 41 pick in the 2019 draft. He signed with the Vikings in 2023 and resigned with the team in the 2024 offseason. The former Kansas State standout suffered a back injury in training camp.

Risner started in 11 games for the Vikings last season.
