New York Rangers Analyst Facing Criticism for Comments on Possible Jason Robertson Trade

Not long after the Dallas Stars were eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Edmonton Oilers for the 2nd year in a row, reports began to surface that the club could be thinking of making a major change involving a trade of Jason Robertson.

Robertson, who was hurt in the regular season finale and missed several playoff games, was one of the only Stars players who scored consistently in their WCF loss to the Oilers with 4 goals in the final 3 games of the series.

After a trade proposal surfaced on X that would see the Stars trading Robertson to the New York Rangers in exchange for Will Cuylle, defenseman Braden Schneider and the 12th overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NHL Entry Draft, Rangers analyst Johnny Lazarus of The Daily Faceoff flat out refused to entertain it.

It wasn't long before Lazarus began facing backlash for his comment.

Cuylle just completed his 2nd full year in the NHL with the Rangers, scoring 45 points (20G, 25A) in 82 games. Before that, he represented Canada in the 2022 World Junior Championships.

Meanwhile, Robertson is set to enter the final year of his contract which has an AAV (average annual value) of $7,750,000. He had 80 points (35G, 45A) in 82 games.
