‘Not Over Yet’: Teddi Mellencamp Says Divorce with Edwin Is on Hold Amid Emotional Uncertainty

   

Teddi Mellencamp is sharing where she stands with her estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave, today. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum filed for divorce from Edwin in November 2024, but her life has changed completely since she got diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma following the filing.

Teddi spoke with Extra on April 17, where she revealed that her divorce has been put "on hold" since undergoing surgery to remove "multiple tumors" on her brain in February. In the two months since then, she has started undergoing immunotherapy and radiation treatments to treat the remaining tumors, while focusing on the three children that she shares with Edwin. While their divorce has taken a bit of a backseat to the other priorities in her life, they're still "not together."

"We're not together, but we put, like, all the divorce stuff on hold because getting divorced is very stressful," she explained. 

But, they've still maintained a friendship with one another during this time. "He's a good guy, and we're having a friendship, which is what we liked about each other in the first place, making each other laugh and all those types of things, so I think it's been really nice," she added. "We call it the divorce chronicles, where we just tease each other."

Teddi, who has been open about dating other people. moved out of the home that she shared with Edwin late last year, after filing for divorce. But that has also changed since her cancer diagnosis, as she moved back into the house so Edwin could help out.

"It's called nesting, but most of the time now, since I've had these surgeries, he'll stay at the house, and then we kind of rotate around, but not, you know, we're separate bedroom-ing," she noted. 

During an April 10 interview with Nightline, Teddi explained how Edwin has been helping her at night. "Night times are really hard for me, so people come, and he organizes all of that," she explained. "So, he's doing the best he can."

Edwin appeared on his podcast, The Eds, on April 3, where he admitted that life has been a whirlwind in the time since Teddi filed for divorce and she was diagnosed with cancer. "It's been quite the six months," he said. "It's been six months now...a little bit of a dark valley that I'm going through. It's funny because it's not just in my personal life; it's been with my business. when it rains, it pours, but you gotta continue to push forward."

"We'll see what happens with time," he added. "For right now, it's just more, 'How do we take care of you (Teddi), and how do we get back to normal as fast as possible?' That other stuff, you know, will figure itself out."
