The Green Bay Packers are working to ensure they have the proper depth and talent in the secondary in 2025. With the losses of Eric Stokes, Corey Ballentine, and Robert Rochell in free agency, they are likely to target multiple defensive backs in the 2025 NFL Draft to strengthen their secondary,
Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst has a history of "triple-up" drafting at specific positions. In 2022, he selected three wide receivers, followed by another trio of receivers in 2023. Last year, he triple-up on the safety position with Javon Bullard, Evan Williams, and Kitan Oladapo. With Jaire Alexander’s future uncertain, cornerback should be a priority for Green Bay in the Draft.
With less than two weeks until the draft, the Packers are hosting a series of prospect visits — including one with a former five-star recruit.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Tom Silverstein, the Packers hosted Florida Gators cornerback Jason Marshall Jr.
A former five-star recruit out of Miami Palmetto High School, Marshall Jr. committed to Florida in 2021 and made an immediate impact as a freshman. He played in all 13 games with seven starts, recording 23 tackles, two tackles for loss, one interception, and three pass breakups. In 2022, he started every game, led the team with eight pass breakups, and added 29 tackles, a tackle for loss, and one interception.
In 2023, he again led the Gators in pass breakups with 10. He started all 12 games that season, finishing with 26 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack. In 2024, Marshall Jr. started the first seven games, totaling 20 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, four pass breakups, and a forced fumble before a shoulder injury ended his season early.
Jason Marshall Jr. earned a 9.42 Relative Athletic Score and measured 194 pounds at the NFL Combine—figures that align with the physical traits Brian Gutekunst typically seeks in a defensive back.
Bleacher Report projects Jason Marshall Jr. as a late Day 3 pick. He would be a valuable addition to Green Bay's secondary, intensifying competition in a cornerback room that is desperately lacking in depth.
