Philadelphia Eagles Release Former Kansas City Chiefs WR Weeks Before Playoff
The Philadelphia Eagles are 10-2 entering Week 14 and find themselves one game back of the Detroit Lions (11-1) for the No. 1 seed in the NFC with five games left in the regular season. The Eagles appear primed to make the playoff for the fourth season in a row and six of the last seven seasons.
Credit to head coach Nick Sirianni for righting the ship in 2024. The Eagles proved they were contenders on Sunday when they went on the road to defeat the Baltimore Ravens 24-19 at M&T Bank Stadium.
On Tuesday, the Eagles made an intriguing roster move with only a month left in the regular season.

Per a statement by the Eagles, Philadelphia announced they signed fullback Khari Blasingame and released wide receiver John Ross from the practice squad.
The Cincinnati Bengals drafted Ross with the No. 9 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He’s spent time with the New York Giants, and Kansas City Chiefs. Ross told the Chiefs he planned to retire in July of 2023, but came out of retirement in November of 2023.

Ross could presumably find his way back to a Kansas City that could use more receiver depth for the playoffs, and a few of the Eagles’ secrets. Ross didn’t participate in training camp with the Chiefs, but his work in OTAs could speed up the process of him acclimating to Kansas City in 2024.
Ross signed a one-year deadline with the Eagles in March and appeared in one game with Philadelphia, catching one pass for six yards.
Ross has appeared in 38 games and started in 21. He’s recorded 63 receptions for 963 yards and 11 touchdowns.
