Why would a team continue to try and upset Patrick Mahomes? Why don't we ask the Las Vegas Raiders, who continue to do stupid things, such as touting a Kermit the Frog puppet dressed like Mahomes at training camp and passing it around the team.
I guess the Raiders have nothing better to do than let Patrick Mahomes live rent free in their heads, huh?
For those who lack the context, Mahomes and Raiders pass rusher Maxx Crosby had a dust-up last season after the pair were getting chippy with one another in a rivalry game. From there, Crosby head-butted Mahomes and the Chiefs quarterback got defensive and said "I'm here." That phrase apparently entered the Raiders' vernacular this offseason and now we've arrived at Kermit Mahomes.
Mind you that the Chiefs have won three of the last five Super Bowls while the Raiders have been to zero Super Bowls over the last 20 years. The Raiders also have failed to win a playoff game since 2003.
Oh speaking of Super Bowls, the Chiefs happened to win their most recent one, their third in five years and fourth title overall, in the Raiders' stadium. They also got to smoke victory cigars and celebrate their title in the Raiders' locker room. Talk about getting clowned on.
Raiders players continue to poke the bear for whatever reason
In the 2020 season, the Raiders beat the Chiefs at Arrowhead and proceeded to take a victory lap around the stadium in their team bus. The next year, when the Chiefs returned the favor and beat the Raiders, they blasted "Wheels on the Bus" in the stadium following the game. Earlier in this game, the Raiders had been dancing on the Chiefs logo before the game and then proceeded to get the crap kicked out of them.
While the Raiders beat the Chiefs on Christmas Day this past season, not a single person would rather be in the Raiders' shoes right now than the Chiefs'. Kansas City is a perennial Super Bowl contender while the Raiders are simply content beating the Chiefs at any point during the season.
Let the Raiders players do stupid stuff like this. Meanwhile, the Chiefs will be attempting to win their third straight Super Bowl. Meanwhile you can get Petty Mahomes has already filed this away.
