While Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock's tenure as the head coach and general manager of the Las Vegas Raiders ended a bit tumultuously, their impact on the organization remains. They drafted franchise cornerstones like Maxx Crosby, Kolton Miller and Malcolm Koonce, as well as a handful of other solid contributors over the years.
One of those big contributors was Hunter Renfrow, who had over 1,000 receiving yards and made the Pro Bowl in 2021. But last year, the Raiders did not re-sign him, and he ended up taking the year off from football. However, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Renfrow was visiting with the Raiders on Friday, meaning a potential reunion could be in the works.
Renfrow had a career year in 2021, catching 103 passes for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns, all of which led the team. He was a leader for the franchise on and off the field that season, carrying the team to the playoffs despite plenty of off-the-field turmoil.
He is still just 29 years old and is more than capable of helping out an NFL team. He is an excellent route runner with a sure set of hands and could be a unique tool in new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly's offense. While he also visited with the Carolina Panthers earlier in the week, the hope for Raider Nation is that he'll be back in the Silver and Black next season with a new lease on life under the new regime.
