Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers isn't in attendance at the team's ongoing voluntary workouts, which has spurred questions from some fans about the nature of his absence.
But as it happens, any concern regarding Bowers' whereabouts is misplaced, as he has a strong reason for missing the beginning of the Raiders' offseason schedule.
"For those who have asked: [Raiders] tight end Brock Bowers is in Georgia, finishing up his college degree, so he has not been at the facility for voluntary workouts (for good reason, of course)," Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review Journal reported via his X account on Thursday, May 1.
The second-year pass catcher didn't just earn Pro Bowl honors during his rookie campaign in 2024, but also played his way onto the First-Team All-Pro roster on the strength of 112 receptions for 1,194 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
Bowers is the key returning skill-position piece to an offense that a new front office and coaching staff in Las Vegas have pieced together throughout the offseason. Quarterback Geno Smith, formerly of the Seattle Seahawks, will be throwing Bowers the football this year in place of Gardner Minshew, who is no longer with the team, and Aidan O'Connell who will be relegated to a supporting role.
Las Vegas also used its top pick in the NFL draft, No. 6 overall, to select 2,600-yard running back Ashton Jeanty out of Boise State, who projects as potentially one of the top rushers in the league as a rookie in 2025.
