Report: Super Bowl outcome could dictate Travis Kelce's retirement decision

When Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce spoke about his future at Super Bowl media day, he made it sound like he still has a desire to play beyond this season.

But according to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport on Saturday night, Kelce is still reportedly undecided on his future and the result of Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles could play a significant role in what he decides.

Super Bowl outcome could dictate Kelce's retirement decision?

According to Rapoport, Kelce is expected to take some time after the game and decide on what he wants to do with his career.

Even though the 35-year-old Kelce has started to slow down, he remains a key part of the Chiefs' offense and caught 97 passes this season. It is the seventh consecutive season he has recorded at least 90 catches.

If the Chiefs were to win Sunday, it would give Kelce four Super Bowl rings and allow him to go out on top by being a part of a team that has done something no other team in NFL history has — win three consecutive Super Bowls.

At that point what else is there to accomplish?

A loss, however, might leave him feeling some unfinished business and perhaps push him to give it at least one more year.

Kelce, like his brother, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, has several interests and plans outside of football, and spoke toward that at media day saying he knows football is not going to last forever. The second he retires from the league, he could probably have an analyst job of some sort on TV.

Travis Kelce is one of the best tight ends of this era, and an all-time great at the position. He has a chance to add to his legacy on Sunday. It is just a question if he keeps adding to it after this season or if he chooses a different path.
