In a recent story on The Athletic, Pierre LeBrun posted some NHL rumblings on a few players in the league. Minnesota Wild center Marco Rossi was one of them.
Rossi, 23, recorded 24 goals, 36 assists, and 60 points in 82 games during the 2024-25 season for the Wild. He has now played in 164 consecutive games for the Wild with back-to-back 82 game seasons.
The 5-foot-9 center posted career highs in pretty much every category. Including goals, assists, points, plus-minus, power-play goals, power play points, and game-winning goals.
He ranked second on the Wild in points with 60 behind Matt Boldy's 73 points.
The Canucks currently have Elias Pettersson, Fillip Chytil, Pius Suter, and Teddy Blueger as their centers. It has been reported they may move on from both Blueger and Suter so they would certainly welcome an acquisition of Rossi.
Although Rossi was second on the team in points and Wins Above Replacement (WAR) the Wild played him on the fourth line for the playoffs.
“Well, I think Hartzy played really well. A lot of people look at it as like a demotion. Ryan Hartman played really well," Wild General Manager Bill Guerin said on why Rossi was on the fourth line. "Hartman had a great series. He was elevated. OK, then what do you do? You try to find the best line combos that we possibly can. You know what? You take a 60-point guy and you put him with two big guys who are playing really well, and we had a good line.
"Trenny had a couple points. Braz had a couple. Marco had two goals. He scored two goals on that line. So we’re just trying to find the best combos for that night. We don’t feel like Marco played poorly. Hartzy played really well and moved up the lineup, and that was the best possible combo that we thought Marco would be in, and he played well. He produced.”
We will see if that has diminished his value a little bit or not. Nonetheless, the Canucks have some interest in Rossi according to reports.
